[Glitterbomb!]

Guys. GLITTERBOMB. It happened.

Don't know what "glitterbomb" means? Here. And here. Except instead of meh GOP candidates, our house was glitterbombed. On purpose. By me and Domineau. For our GLITTERBOMB birthday party!!!

So...it turns out that glitter (unsurprisingly) brings out the crazy in me. Picture a combination of Tinkerbell + Tazmanian Devil + cackling Wicked Witch of the West, and you get me, twirling around the main floor chucking handfuls of glitter and confetti on every possible surface (and myself) less than an hour before the party. I think this was our best party yet, with the glitter errrywhere, combined with the glitter mason jar candle holders I made and the a-MAYYY-zing canopy Dom constructed. We celebrate our birthdays in sparkly style, people.

We were so lucky to have these beautiful and delicious cakes made for us by Miss Lauren. My cake (front) was cinnamon with a spicy "Mexican hot chocolate" frosting (chosen by Lauren because I'm "Mexican and spicy" thankyouverymuch), definitely one of the best cakes I've ever had. Dom's was chocolate with a salted caramel frosting and chocolate ganache drip. Thank you L!!

A few of my favorite photos and people from our little homemade photobooth:

These roomies came in matching purple outfits. Love.

And my most favorite of all, Papa Rod in the flesh! My dad showed up close to midnight, after flying in from Los Angeles, just in time to catch me blowing out my candles.

Dom and I both had a blast celebrating our 25th and 24th birthdays, respectively, and we were so happy to do it in the company of so many of our great friends. And I loved sharing my birthday festivities with her for the second year in a row. Already planning next year... :)

P.S. Thanks so much to all of the friendlies that helped us with Glitterbomb! Shannon, Morgan, Lucy, Allie, David...definitely could not have managed without you loves. And Tyler for the first four photos!

[The ugly sweater party.]

Last night we had 100 of our closest friends over for an intimate ugly sweater gathering with wassail, hot chocolate, and Domineau's amazeballs "Better Than [your favorite vice]" cake. I was kind of nervous slash excited to see what people would come up with for their ugly sweaters...what turned up was a delightful combination of awkward family photo/cat lady/normal sartorially challenged Mormon people sweaters. I couldn't have been more pleased, really.

Btw, these are my roomies--not sure I've ever shown us in all of our Seven Brides for Seven Brothers glory (props to the ex for that nickname...don't think the irony is lost on me), so presenting Rachel, Lynn, Melissa, Domineau, moi, Ginette, and Corinne for your viewing pleasure:

This Aaron fellow below took FULL advantage of the strategically placed mistletoe, which I definitely hung in about 15 different places throughout our main floor, plus over every roommate's bedroom door. I had hoped to get every guest a kiss from someone, but alas, the apple cider wasn't quite strong enough, I guess.

Is there anything more adorable than a grown man who bedazzles his own Christmas shirt with Santa penguins (below) all by his little self? I think not...I think not. Also, props to Dom for DIYing her pom pom Christmas tree shirt as well.

Basically everyone should have a giant red bow.

...and a southern boy to grant you Santa wishes.

[Oscars recap of little importance.]

1. Whoever came up with the Franco/Hathaway idea should be severely reprimanded. She was too giggly, and he could not have been more blasé. Let's get Sandra in there next year, shall we?

2. I L.O.V.E.D. Mandy and Mila's dresses--precious and perfect, both of them. Jennifer Hudson killed it with her ridiculous new body, while Gwyneth didn't have quite enough bod to fill out her dress. And Scarlett was boring and, as usual, obese. Meanwhile, at our viewing party (hosted by Stefi--thanks!), Domineau stunned in her ball gown, and I sparkled in leggings.

3. Lindsey and I tied for first place in our ballot competition--Art History majors for the win!

4. As always, my love for Marky Mark grows stronger by the minute...

5. Melissa Leo's non speech. ... ... ... ... That really can just never happen again.

6. I made the ballots for our prize-less contest, mostly just so I could have the excuse to play around with fonts and red paper. They functioned well as coasters.

What did you think of the show?

things i learned over the weekend, ed. 1.

:: you can injure yourself by standing too hard ::

Apparently, if you walk a mile to a party in five inch high heel boots, then stand around for five hours at a backyard fall soiree, you will strain a tendon in your right ankle. As you are probably twenty two and stupid, not only will you neglect to ice and elevate your ankle that night, but you will also wear the same boots to dinner the next day. You will then notice that the pain is getting worse, and you will begin to develop a limp. As you hobble around for the next three days, the pain will steadily increase, and your mom (who is a nurse) will suggest that you acquire crutches. (You will absolutely not acquire crutches. Too dorky, and require arm muscles that you do not possess.) You will become slightly concerned that you may have permanently damaged yourself, but you won't really know how to fix the situation, as hopping around on one foot was only awesome when you were three (okay, twelve), but you'll definitely blog about it. The overall experience will confirm what you suspected all along: Mormon parties can be hazardous--attend at your own risk.
