[RyGos Coloring Book.]

THIS is what I love about this world. There is now in existence a Ryan Gosling coloring book, and that gives me hope for humanity.

Oh RyGos...I'll color in between your lines...

Stay tuned for my masterpieces.

[Dancing colored pencils.]

I can't sleep...it wasn't a great day...so I'm watching pretty stop motion videos to hopefully usher me into happy dreams of colorful writing utensils (hopefully without the accompanying nightmares of evil pencil sharpeners). Seriously though, this is kind of good, and you should watch. The creativity of some people is so inspiring to me...if only I had a fraction of this talent!!

[Happy Monday! Some inspiration. ]

Just a bit of artistic and life inspiration that I thought I'd share with you all. These images are by James Gulliver Hancock, an artist who is documenting his attempts to draw all the buildings of New York here. His works are complexly layered, but they take on a simple, whimsical aesthetic that I really love. This video about him and his drawings captures his love of what he does so beautifully, and I think it's quite inspiring to see how much he enjoys his work. Videos like this always make me look a bit introspectively -- do I love what I do? If not, what steps can I take to get to that point?

I love this quote from the video: "You've got all these nice mistakes in each of those layers...I really like all that. It probably kind of reflects the organic nature of the city in a way. The fact that it's a bit full of mistakes, though beautiful."

Happy Monday! Hope everyone is starting their week beautifully!

[my.life.curated] Valentine's Day.

I've had a life long love affair with the color red, ever since I bounced around in my little red Converse high tops as a two year old. It's sort of extremely difficult for me to resist buying every red thing I see, and the only reason I haven't yet dyed my hair red is because I would then clash with all the red things I already own and wear (plus I would look awful, obviously). We all know I love Valentine's Day for many reasons, but especially because it allows me to indulge a little more than usual--as if I needed an excuse.

In the spirit of the season, here are some pretty things I've acquired over the last little while. The Kate Spade iPhone case was one of my Valentines to myself (wait, doesn't everybody do that?), while the others I picked to decorate my room.

an engagement!

(not mine. gross. i'm 22.)

congratulations becca!!
becca and i were in the same ward a few years ago in new york, and weirdly, we never actually hung out that much or got to know each other very well...but we've somehow become better buddies since then through the wonders of gchat, blogging, and twitter. and i must confess that i have a slight girl/blog crush on her, which is why i was SO excited to hear her amazing news last week. even better is the proposal story, which i died over, being the art lover that i am. she tells it better than i can, but basically her lover-now-fiance josh sneakily hid her engagement ring in a piece of art at a gallery they visited on a saturday afternoon date.

future husbands of mine, please take note.

p.s. i promise i won't subject you all to the engagement stories of every newly engaged friend. but so few of my friends have gotten married, that it's still exciting to me.

plus i love becca.

plus this was a particularly perfect proposal.
