[Photo a Day: Something you're listening to.]

And now, for the most anticlimactic final photo of this February Photo a Day challenge...tadaaa!

Thus concludes the #febphotoaday challenge.
I suppose I'll have to start blogging about real things again.
See all of the pics here, if you're stalkerishly inclined.
Was it good for you?

[Photo a Day: Money.]

...or lack thereof.

[Two Tunes Tuesday: Stay.]

These songs. Love them both.

The first is from Taylor Berrett's new EP (congrats, Taylor! everyone go buy it immediately. you'll thank me.) and is a better version of Drake's "Take Care." Normally would prefer to post up a new artist's original song rather than a cover, but this is just so, so good, and, like, relevant or I couldn't resist. All that really means is that you need to check out his EP to hear his very legit original stuff.

The second is by Girls and is just...perfect. I listened to it 18 times in a row last night without even realizing. Also, the time is currently 1234. The little things.

[Photo a Day: Something you ate.]

My diet last week consisted of all the treats I brought home from Manhattan: Levain cookies, Magnolia cupcakes, Laduree macarons... So today marked the start of my post-NYC detox. Salad for lunch, fruit for dinner. There may also have been a Potbelly oatmeal chocolate chip cookie thrown in there somewhere, but I don't really remember. Today also most likely marked the end of my post-NYC detox. Back to normal programming tomorrow.

[Just a few NYC street shots.]

How I love this beautiful city.
But...maybe you got that the first 30458 times I blogged my love for NYC...
Whatevs. Never gets old for me. I miss my home.

Let's go back.

[Photo a Day: Green and Night.]

Yesterday we snuck away from real life for a little afternoon matinee, during which I gracefully inhaled an entire bag of Sour Patch Kids for lunch. I left him maybe three.

...what happens when I'm left to fend for myself for the first night in days. Moped around the kitchen for a while, hoping my roommates would feed me, eventually acquired a slice of bread and a soda, and I'm now curled up watching the Oscars in bed. #savemilan

[A stroll through Central Park.]

A Monday morning stroll through Central Park, followed by brunch on the Upper West Side and a pop into a little antique shop. All with this guy. Can we think of morning I'd love more? No. We cannot.

[If you're a fan of Parenthood.]

...the TV show, not the condition.

[Photo a Day: (the lost days)]

Playing a little catch up with my Photos a Day and general blogging. I was in New York for five days and only had time for frolicking and brunching. Please excuse my absence.

The clock and twinkly lights in Chelsea Market. Magical. The stuff of fairies.

Hot chocolate with Lauren for her birthday!

something you hate to do
Curling my hair in Mikey's bathroom. Burned my finger immediately after taking this photo. Hate, I tell you. HATE. My hair looks like a mess all the time for a reason, people. (Have you ever even seen me with. a. straight. part? No.)

People who know to sign cards with a line from my favorite movie. Love.

a fave photo of you
Twirling. Dress. Foliage. Smiling. A fave photo of a fave moment. She was happy right here.

where you work
Just me in ma office. My space heater and Mexican skeletons keep me company. And of course I have an office wand, don't you?

Just a glamour photo of my feet today. Normal.

Glad we're all caught up now. You have no idea how much this has been weighing on me.

{Early morning break-in. Box of presents outside my bedroom door. Cupcakes. Red roses. Pink tutu. Sparkly tiara. Rosies for the roomies, too. Impressed.}
{Cupcake for breakfast. Cupcake for midnight.}
{Red skirt. Pink blouse. Fuschia coat. And gold, of course gold.}
{"FYI, I treat Valentine's Day like St. Patrick's Day. And you're not wearing pink or red..." *pinch* <-- Me. To everyone. NOT obnoxious at all.}
{Surprise flowers delivered to work. Huge surprise. Office spectacle. Smiling girl.}
{Darth Vader candy dispenser. Best friend. May the force of love be with you.}
{Film festival. Wendy for Wife. Seriously. I'm looking at you, sir.}
{Tiara and tutu and wand. Twirling. Princessing. New favorite.}
{Favorite holiday. Still. Still!}

[Photo a Day: Something new.]

New haircut. She chopped about 5x the "inch and a half" I very explicitly instructed.
Basically bald.
Goodbye, princess hair.

I hate everything.

[Midnight cupcake.]

Nothing wrong with a black & gold cupcake for breakfast and a pink & red cupcake at midnight. Thank you to the one who was thoughtful enough to gift me these. I was a spoiled little girl today, that's for sure. A blissful sugar coma awaits me tonight.

But until then...Valentine's Day is over in DC, but not in Chicago and all that lies west of there, which is good enough for me. So, a cupcake in bed and a midnight movie. This is what one does at times like these, you know.

[Photo a Day: Heart.]

As always, my lovely Steph was here for me today. A Darth Vader candy dispenser? It's like she knows me or something... Dearest Estefania, thank you for being my love, this year, last year, and every day before and in between.

To those in the windy city, I wish you luck.
You are loved so, so much.

[Geek love.]

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 & 5

Love all of these.

And yes, I am a Star Wars fan and a Trekkie. Empire Strikes Back, The Next Generation, and Voyager are my favorites, FYI.

P.S. For all you fellow Star Trek fans...I know you must be out there (uh, right?? guys?)...did I ever tell you about the time I was at an event and Leonard Nimoy and Zach Quinto walked into the party **together**?!?!? Blew. My. Mind. One of the best moments of this little Trekkie's life.

[Two Tunes Tuesday: Lovies.]

My favorite holiday, so a couple favorite lovie songs.

The first is a live cover of "Feels So Right," performed by country god Tim McGraw at his July 2010 concert in Bristow, VA. And then "Home," set to some recent iPhone footage.

I may post up a million more lovie songs and/or V-Day things today.

Girl can't help it. I love.

[Photo a Day: Blue.]

Shoesies. Better than another picture of my face.

[A girl, a glock, and a machine gun.]

Just, you know, an evening spent shooting guns for charity with Rich. Possibly one of the most fun things I've ever done in D.C.

He said I was a natural. For a first-timer, apparently I had excellent aim. It's the Mexican in me, probs.

And then...he handed me the machine gun. Yeah. You see that crazy look in her eyes??

This is what I am now capable of doing. Men, if you didn't fear me before, fear me now.

Thanks Rich!

p.s. did everyone else know that "glock" is the name of a real gun?? i definitely didn't... #girl

[Photo a Day: Front door.]

My front door, decorated for Valentine's Day by our lovely Domineau, who is crafty in all ways.

[RyGos, we need to talk.]

[V-Day: Black & Gold.]

clockwise, from top left:

February 14th is pretty much a high holy day in my book. Seriously--I love love love Valentine's Day, and would celebrate it year-round if it were socially acceptable. A day devoted to red and sparkly things and heart-shaped desserts?? Perfection. We know how much I support the Valentine-present-to-self concept (last year's Kate Spade gold purse and iPhone case, anyone?)...and as I, ahem, seem to be my own Valentine this year (a v-day without flowers?! a first. i hate it. let us never speak of this again.), I have been feverishly pulling together all sorts of giftie ideas. Always a sucker for collages/moodboards/gift guides, I thought I'd put together a few for all of our viewing pleasures.

Guys, if you're reading this, feel free to pull some inspiration from here for your lovely lady of choice. A girl deserves a little somethin' somethin' on this day...even if it's just a rose and a cupcake. And ladies, is always, always okay to treat yoself. You do deserve it, after all.

Next up, red and pink. Yeah. Excited, aren't you.

[Photo a Day: Sun.]

There wasn't much sun in DC today...but there was a Spike's Sunnyside burger at Good Stuff Eatery.

P.S. Bizarre Milan fact: I just started eating burgers this summer, and the one pictured here is literally the only burger in the world I'll eat.

[Photo a Day: Button.]

Nothing wrong with big gold buttons on my winter coat. Nothing at all.

Pupusas. Always a good idea.

The accessory with which I tell time.
